How do you clean Invisalign® aligners?

Each night, you will need to clean your Invisalign® aligners to protect your teeth from decay and cavities. Caring for your aligners is simple and is detailed below: - Rinse your aligners with water every night - Brush your aligners with a soft-bristled toothbrush (separate from the toothbrush you use to brush your teeth) and gentle, clear liquid soap to remove any debris or food particles that have accumulated during the day - Rinse the aligners thoroughly after brushing - Store your aligners in a protective case whenever they aren't in use (which should only be while eating or drinking anything besides water)

Can you eat or chew gum with Invisalign®?

You should not chew gum or eat food with your Invisalign® aligners in your mouth. Chewing gum or food with your Invisalign® aligners in your mouth can damage the trays and stick to your aligners. When you eat or drink anything besides water, you must take your aligners out and place them in your aligner case. Because you are able to remove the aligners, there are no food restrictions that you have to abide by like you would with braces.

Does Invisalign® hurt?

Invisalign® aligners are not painful, but they can leave your teeth feeling sore. The aligners are slowly shifting your teeth in place, so it may feel uncomfortable at first, but this is normal. If the discomfort becomes too much, you can drink cold water or suck on small ice cubes to help soothe your sore teeth. We recommend putting in your new aligner set at night so that you are able to sleep through the initial discomfort of a new aligner set. That way, you'll wake up the next day without having to experience the discomfort while you're wide awake.
