Mercury-Free Fillings
Conservative repair with tooth-colored materials
When a tooth needs repair, we use mercury-free, tooth-colored materials chosen for strength, function, and a natural-looking result. If you have older silver fillings, we can evaluate them carefully and talk with you about whether anything needs attention.
Our Approach to Repairing Teeth
At The Airway Dentists, we do not place silver amalgam fillings. We take a full-picture approach to repair, from restoring teeth with modern materials to evaluating older fillings and guiding patients when specialized replacement is needed.
New Fillings
When a tooth needs repair, we use mercury-free, tooth-colored materials chosen for function, fit, and a natural-looking result.
Existing Fillings
If you already have older metal fillings, we look at the full picture before recommending anything. Some fillings simply need to be monitored. Others may need attention if they are worn, leaking, cracked, or surrounded by decay.
Filling Replacements
If a case calls for a specialized amalgam-removal protocol outside our scope, we will talk that through with you honestly and help you understand whether a referral makes sense.
Safe Materials for Modern Repair
We choose materials that support function, preserve healthy structure, and blend naturally with your smile.
- BPA-free composite: We use BPA-free composite resin that can be matched closely to your natural tooth shade. These materials are free of Bis-GMA (BPA) and other harsh chemicals often found in plastics.
- Bonded restorations: Modern bonded materials attach directly to the tooth, which means less healthy tooth structure has to be removed (drilled) just to make the filling stay in place. The result is a strong, well-sealed repair that helps preserve more of the natural tooth.
ASK THE EXPERTS
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you place silver amalgam fillings?
No. We use tooth-colored restorative materials instead of placing new mercury-containing amalgam fillings.
Do you remove old silver fillings?
We can evaluate old silver fillings and replace them when replacement is clinically appropriate. If a case requires a specialized amalgam-removal protocol outside our scope, we can discuss referral options.
Should every old silver filling be replaced?
Not automatically. We look for cracks, leakage, decay, symptoms, and your goals before recommending replacement. If an old filling is stable and healthy, monitoring may be the right choice.
